We are situated in the heart of the Devon countryside and during your stay you should try to make the most of the surroundings. You will find a number of excellent walks in and out of the village.
There are spectacular cliff-top walks at Hartland Quay, leading to Blackpool Cottage (a setting for the film Sense and Sensibility) and numerous secluded coves, ideal for barbeques. Further along the coast you have Hartland Lighthouse and stunning views across to Lundy.
Hartland offers wonderful potteries, an art gallery, antiques shop, Hartland Abbey and superb cream teas in the village at Docton Mill and Stoke Barton.
Wonderful sandy beaches can be found at Sandymouth, Bude, Widemouth bay and Westward Ho!; all excellent for surfing and other water sports.
Dartmoor and Exmoor are both within easy reach, not to mention Clovelly, Boscastle and Padstow.
Cycle paths can be found at Bideford (The Tarka Trail) and Wadebridge (The Camel Trail), with bike hire available at both.
For a longer day out, the Eden Project can be reached in just over one and a half hours.
There are numerous other attractions nearby, although there are too many to mention, for our younger guests, you will find fun at The Big Sheep, Atlantic Village, Go Ape, The Milky Way and Watermouth Castle and Dinosaur Park.
The local village has much to offer and is only about twenty mintues walk away. There are three pubs and two village stores which cater for most needs, including post office, with cash point machine.
Keep an eye out for the Farmers' Markets most Saturdays during the summer, as they offer excellent local produce and breakfasts. In Hartland and Kilkhampton you will also find farm shops offering local produce.
